Inspiration Secret #1 in Practise

April 2, 2010

I love working in pairs.  Mr. J-Snap Waters and I often spend our evenings spinning tales of many projects and ideas.  Sometimes they are really too big to ever exist.  However, sometimes they come to life.

This project was inspired by “Story Game.” (It’s a game we play with our friends.  I bring home register rolls that are nearly finished and then we pass it around writing one or two lines of the story each.  You can’t read anymore than the last few words before your line.  It works well with just hanging around and at the end of the night you’ve got some pretty hilarious stuff. )

J-Snap took a line from a story game that he thought would make an interesting photo for his wish blog.  He set about making the pieces he thought he would need.  He Skyped with friends far away about what things should look like and asked me to draw him some mysterious piles of bones.

The challenge of being asked to draw something (I don’t put pencil to paper often anymore) was an inspiring challenge.  It took some good back and forth feed back to get to a consensus on his vision of the project and what I could actually draw.  What happened came together rather nicely.
