Seeking Out Greatness

March 5, 2010

Greatness is easy to be inspired by.

I’m not an athlete, nor will I ever be.  I enjoy a leisurely bike ride on my cruiser to work and back to the tune of 10km (but I’m not fooled).  Biking is something I do as a utility.

However, I am inspired by the greatness of the Olympic athletes despite being un-athletic.  I watched with wonder at the speed of the Lindsey Vonn, Alpine Skiing Women’s Downhill.  I watched skiers fall and flip and was awed by the power of speed.

I visit barista-friends at their cafes and watch as they free pour beautiful latte art in patterns I have not mastered yet.  Instead of feeling small, I choose to feel humble and to take inspiration away from those who are yet greater than I am.

So this weekend, I urge you to go out and find something that inspires feelings of greatness.  The many more things the better.

(A great start?  March 12th, 6PM PST, Opening Ceremonies for the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games)
